jimena ledgard

Hi, my name is jimena ledgard

I’m a Peruvian writer, producer and
journalist currently based in Lima, Peru.

I write about the environment, social
unrest, politics, power, human rights, and
tech in the global South.

I’ve also been working as an audio
producer for the past four years, both
independently and for international
media outlets.

Feel free to get in touch if you’d like
to discuss a collaboration.

You can also keep scrolling to see
a bit more of my work, grants and other random things.

Some extra bits about me: I have an MSc from the London School of Economics in Media and Communication (2019), which I attended as a Chevening Scholar. I am also a former grantee of the Fundación Gabo, the Open Society Foundation and the International Women’s Media Foundation.
I’ve been a local producer, fixer and host for the Deutsche Welle, ViceTV and PBS. Let me know if you’d like additional info.

Estación Ciudad and [Antihéroes] el valle y la coca are my podcast babies.
They made me fall in love with sound and have taken me to report on the
illegal mafias of land speculation in Lima, to the crime-ridden social
housing projects built by chavismo in Venezuela, and
deep into VRAEM, the cocaine producing valley of Peru.
